Area Chart

It is an evolution of the line chart. It highlights with color the area between the line and the X-axis to show the amount of a variable, usually over time, which is the second variable. An area chart shows a continuity of the variable and is easy to interpret because of the area of color occupied. It is usually used to compare several variables or to know the proportion of them in a given time span.
