In the history of the Summer Olympic Games, Colombia has won 34 medals: 5 gold, 13 silver and 16 bronze medals. Since 1932, Colombia’s best participation, without a doubt, was in 2016 at Rio de Janeiro, where they earned 3 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals. Among their standout athletes are BMX rider Mariana Pajón (with two golds), weightlifter Óscar Figueroa (with one gold and one silver), and athlete Catherine Ibargüen (with one gold and one silver).
In weightlifting, Colombia has excelled from the Sydney 2000 Olympics to Tokyo 2020, winning nine medals (2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze). This journey began with María Isabel Urrutia’s gold and continued with Óscar Figueroa’s gold in Rio, including other great athletes such as Mabel Mosquera, Diego Salazar, Leidy Solís, Ubaldina Valoyes, and Luis Mosquera. Luis Mosquera won his second Olympic medal in Tokyo 2020, improving on his silver from Rio 2016 in the men’s 67 kg weightlifting category.
At the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, Colombia is represented by Yeny Álvarez, Luis Javier Mosquera, Yeison López, and Mari Levis Sánchez. After the conclusion of the Olympic event, any necessary updates to our design will be based on the database available in our App. Access the data here.
